Bringing Blind Hockey to Florida.
Blind Hockey delivers the speed, competition, teamwork, and excitement of traditional ice hockey for players who are blind or visually impaired. Players skate upright on a full sheet of ice, using traditional hockey equipment with a few key adaptations that make the game accessible. What makes it different: Hear the puck. A larger adaptive metal puck contains ball bearings, allowing players to track it by sound. Follow the play. Teams must complete a pass in the attacking zone before they can score, giving lower-vision players and goaltenders additional time to locate the puck. Listen for the signal. A specialized whistle lets players know when the attacking team is eligible to score. Keep it low. Shorter, 3-foot nets help keep the puck closer to the ice where it can be more easily tracked by sound. See the contrast. Uniform colors are selected to provide greater contrast against the ice for players with usable vision.
The adaptations may be different.

Hockey is growing in FLorida. we want blind hockey to grow with it.
Florida has become one of the fastest-growing hockey markets in the country. From youth and women's hockey to adaptive programs and championship-level professional teams, the game has taken hold across the Sunshine State.
Now it's time to expand who gets the opportunity to play.
While Blind Hockey continues to gain momentum across North America, Florida does not yet have an established program dedicated to the sport.
Florida Blind Hockey was created to change that.
We're bringing together athletes, families, schools, vision organizations, rinks, hockey programs, volunteers, and community partners to build something that hasn't existed here before.
Our goal isn't simply to introduce Blind Hockey to Florida;
It's to make Blind Hockey part of Florida's growing hockey community.

Our mission is to make hockey more accessible to Florida's blind and visually impaired community by creating opportunities to learn, skate, compete, and connect.
We are currently working to build awareness, identify interested athletes, establish community partnerships, and develop opportunities for introductory Blind Hockey events in Florida.
Our long-term vision is to establish a sustainable Blind Hockey program that gives athletes of all ages and experience levels the opportunity to participate in the sport.
